Filipino immigration officers complete Chinese language courses at the airport or achieve Chinese language barrier-free communication

The Philippine Immigration Bureau announced that 47 immigration officers completed the training of the basic course of Putonghua in China on November 10. In the future, they can directly greet Chinese tourists in Chinese and have basic dialogues.

Immigration Director Chen Xinge said: "Immigration officials learn Chinese Mandarin and will promote interaction with Chinese tourists and cross-cultural exchanges. The Philippines will enhance the overall travel experience of Chinese tourists visiting the Philippines, which will also consolidate the image of the Philippines as a hospitable tourist power.

According to the entry and exit records of the Philippines, before the outbreak, Chinese citizens ranked second in the number of inbound foreign tourists.

The first-level basic Putonghua courses offered by Chiang Kai-shek College are 50 hours in total, with one class from July 11 to October 3 at Manila International Airport and the other from July 10 to October 9 at the Immigration Department's headquarters.

The Confucius Institute at the National University of the Philippines in Diliman also offers a 36-hour online course for immigration staff across the country from August 29 to November 16.
