Manila City, Philippines Launches Hop-on Hop-off HOHO Bus Tour

On July 6, local time, the Manila municipal government and the Department of Tourism (DOT) of the Philippines launched the Manila section of the hop-on hop-off (HOHO) bus tour at the Kartilya ng Katipunan in (Ermita), Yumi District.

HOHO is a new tourism project launched by the Philippine Ministry of Tourism as part of its new campaign slogan "Love the Philippines. The bus tour is designed to provide group and individual visitors with convenience and flexibility to travel to the tourist attractions in the Capital Region.

The program was first launched on May 28 in the city of Makati as a pilot activity to promote scenic spots through a modern shuttle bus system and mobile apps.

The one-day ticket price is 990 pesos, the two-day price is 1799 pesos, and the three-day price is 2499 pesos. Ethnic groups can purchase tickets by downloading the HOHO mobile application.

The tourism ministry said the bus tour project has been under development for more than two years.

In her speech, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan expressed pride in the city's history and heritage. She said the project is an important part of the city's tourism and cultural development plan.

"this plan will obviously enable visitors to enjoy the beauty and charm of manila seamlessly and easily," she said."

It is reported that the Manila HOHO bus tour will have eight stops, including Minlunlo/Chinatown (Binondo), Malacanang Palace/Presidential Palace (Malacanang), Manila's historic church, Wangcheng District (Intramuros), Escolta Street, Manila University and National Museum.

The mayor believes that the city's bus tourism project will make a positive contribution to the national economy.

Meanwhile, Department of Tourism (DOT) Minister Christina Frasco said the project is dedicated to restoring Manila to its glory. She also pledged that the tourism industry in the Capital Region will continue to flourish through the HOHO bus tour project.
