Philippine Civil Aviation Authority: Fares will "become more expensive" in the future, or a fuel surcharge of up to 5373.69P will be imposed!

According to Philippine media reports, on February 22, after the Philippine Civil Aviation Commission (CAB) adjusted the fuel surcharge imposed on airlines, ticket prices may become more expensive in the next few months.

CAB said in an announcement that from March 1 to 31, the fuel surcharge will remain at level 7.

It said that for domestic flights, passengers only need to pay a fuel surcharge of 219 pesos to 739 pesos, depending on the distance.

For international flights, fuel surcharges range from 722.71 pesos to 5373.69 pesos, it added.

The Civil Aviation Administration stated: "If an airline intends to levy a fuel surcharge or levy a fuel surcharge at the same time, it must apply to our bureau within or before the validity period. The fuel surcharge collection standard does not exceed the above-mentioned level."

Airlines are expanding network coverage and capacity as more Filipinos decide to travel after the pandemic.
