Popular Thai Visa Science | What are the common visa types for Chinese to Thailand?

According to the purpose of your trip, foreigners must apply for an appropriate visa from the Thai Embassy or Consulate. The following is a summary of popular visa types in Thailand.

01. Tourist visa

A. Single round trip tourist visa

The personal travel visa in Thailand is valid for 3 months and can stay for 60 days. It can be renewed once, 30 days at a time, but the actual length of stay is mainly based on the seal affixed by the customs. Generally speaking, if you do not stay in Thailand for too long, or frequently enter and leave Thailand, the customs will not give you a hard time.

Only the original passport and two white background bareheaded color photos are required. You need to go to the immigration office before the visa expires: the cost is 1900 Baht.

*The office hours of the Immigration Office are usually from Monday to Friday (8:00 - 16:00), with a break from 12:00 to 13:00 at noon.

B. Multiple round trip tourist visa

You can enter and leave Thailand for many times within 6 months, but the conditions are very strict, and the cost is 5600 Baht. If you plan to enter Thailand more than 5 times within half a year, it will be more cost-effective.  

The following three conditions need to be met

• Provide proof of residence
• The bank account has at least 5000 yuan of deposit every month within half a year
• At least one entry to Thailand

Required application materials

• 2 visa application and color certificate photos
• Valid passport of no less than 6 months
• Certificate of Permanent Residence/Residence Permit in China
• Bank deposit certificate reflecting the current capital status of individuals
• Letter of guarantee issued by the applicant's unit
• Provide at least the first round-trip air ticket to and from Thailand or air ticket pre order
• At least provide the residence certificate of the first entry into Thailand

C. Landing visa

After arriving at the airport, the application fee is currently 2000 Baht. You can only stay in Thailand for 15 days and cannot extend the visa.

02. Non tourism visa

A. Transit visa

The Thai government stipulates that all Chinese tourists who are destined for a third country and only transit from Thailand, or who return from a third country through Thailand, must apply for a transit visa; The transit visa must be handled at the Thai consulates in China in advance, and cannot be handled on the spot in Thailand.

*Holding a transit visa can only stay in Thailand for 15 days.

B. Business visa

The business visa is divided into three month single trip and one year multiple trips, and the stay time is 90 days.

Information required

• Passport valid for more than six months
• Two inch color white background photo
• Completed business visa and its copy
• Original and copy of applicant's qualification certificate
• Copy of business license of Thailand company and invitation letter

C. Student visa

There are two kinds of student visas: long-term study in Thailand and short-term study (language or other courses). You can stay in Thailand for 3 months to 1 year. You need to extend your visa at the Immigration Office every 3 months. The visa fee is 1900 Baht.

Required data:

• Two complete visa application forms
• Letter of guarantee issued by the guarantor (English or Thai)
• Affix the official seal of the company and attach the name card of the guarantor
• Indicate the name of the applicant and the purpose of going to Thailand
• An admission notice issued by a Thai university, indicating the applicant's name, duration of stay and major.

D. Non immigrant visa O

Accompanying visa

Students who come to Thailand to attend international schools (from kindergarten to high school) need to apply for a student visa NON-ED. One student can have one parent who applies for a NON-O, commonly known as a "companion visa". Parents will receive the documents required for student visa issued by the school after they have completed the enrollment procedures for their children in international schools in Thailand; If the parents decide to accompany the students, they can ask the school for the certificate of the school that they have studied with "accompanying visa". More popular are Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Dependent visa

Parents, children and spouses with work permits and work visas can apply for a dependent visa, which is valid for one year.

Required data:

• Translation confirmation of domestic kinship certificate (such as marriage certificate, birth certificate, adoption certificate, etc.)
  A two inch photo
• Valid visa passport
• Thailand address certificate (house property certificate, or address of work and study unit)
• Deposit certificate with Thai bank account no less than 500000 Baht (deposit record in the past three months)
• Valid visas (work permit or study permit) for relatives in Thailand, and relevant documents from their units or schools.

03. Elite Visa

Thailand Elite Visa Program (English) is Thailand Elite (Privilege Visa for Long Stay). Thailand Elite Visa Program is the top national member program in the world. It provides foreign members who need to live in Thailand for a long time for 5, 10, and 20 years respectively with the right to live in Thailand for a long time. No deposit certificate is required. The membership fee is about 120000 yuan to 500000 yuan. The application time is about one to three months, and each entry period is up to one year.

*Generally, Thai Honor Card can be divided into three types: single application version (5, 10, 20 years), family application version (5, 10, 20 years) and ultimate luxury version (20 years). Single application version (5, 10, 20 years); Family application version (5, 10, 20 years); The ultimate luxury edition (20 years).

04. Smart Visa Thailand's SMART Visa

At present, Thailand provides four types of smart visas: "Smart T" for talents, "Smart E" for executives, "Smart I" for investors, "Smart S" for innovative enterprises, and "Smart O" for family members. The visa holder can live in Thailand for up to 4 years without a work permit, allow multiple entry and exit, and enjoy the privilege of rapid customs clearance at the airport.

Benefits and privileges of smart visa

• The maximum visa validity period is 4 years (generally limited to 1 year)
• No work permit required
• Once a year to the immigration office (generally 90 days)
• The life and work rights of the lawful relatives of the visa holder (spouses and children over the age of 18) are the same as those of the visa holder (this item is only limited to relatives holding T-type high-tech visa)

05. Endowment visa

As long as you meet the following requirements, you can easily obtain:

You are over 50 years old

You can deposit a deposit of 800000 Baht (about 18400 pounds or 23400 dollars) into a Thai bank account or earn at least 65000 Baht per month. Or, a combination of the two.

06. Re entry Permit for Thailand

There are two types of re entry visa in Thailand. One is single re entry visa, and the other is multiple re entry visa. The above mentioned travel visa, student visa and work visa can be handled. After the re entry visa is handled, you can re-enter once or more times within the validity period of the visa. The handling places include immigration bureaus and major airports (it is recommended to check whether the outbound airport can handle it first).

Applying for visa return will not extend the validity of the original visa, but only give you permission to enter Thailand for the second time within the original visa period.
