OCTA team: The wave of XBB cases may have ended in the capital region

Guido David, an expert on the Philippine OCTA research team, said the wave of Omicron XBB sub-variants in the capital region and other parts of Luzon may have ended.

After the Philippine Ministry of Health announced that the Capital Region and 72 districts will continue to implement the first-level epidemic alert from November 1 to 15, David said: "In the Capital Region and the administrative region of Calabason and other areas in central Luzon, we can see that the positive rate is declining. This is actually a good sign, at least the XBB wave may be over."

He added: "We think this is the reason for the surge in cases in September, and now it has begun to decline."

The positive rate of new crown detection in the capital region has dropped from 12.3% on October 22 to 10% on October 29.
