Philippine President Ma Kos declared Eid al-Adha on July 9 as a legal holiday!

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Wednesday declared Saturday, July 9, a legal non-working holiday (Regular Holiday) to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.

The second executive decree of the Marcos states that this Islamic holiday is celebrated annually in the country according to the Muslim calendar under the Republic Act No. 9849.

The Philippine Muslim National Committee has previously designated Eid al-Adha as July 9, one of the two major feasts of Islam.

The Philippine government called on believers to observe basic sanitary and quarantine measures during the celebrations.

During statutory non-working holidays, the salary algorithm for the day is as follows:

No work-daily salary x 100%

Work-Daily Salary x 200%

Overtime-hours worked x hourly rate x 260%

If there is a statutory holiday employee's rest day, the salary algorithm for the day is as follows:

Work-Daily Salary x 260%

Overtime-hours worked x hourly rates x 338%
