Nearly 2800 people were refused entry by the Philippine Immigration Bureau, accounting for 696 Chinese citizens.

Filipino immigrantsThe Bureau (BI) reported that in the first ten months of this year, the agency refused more than 2700 foreigners to enter the Philippines.

A total of 2778 unwelcome and improperly documented foreigners, mainly from China (696), Vietnam (414), Indonesia (214), the United States (204) and India (138), were barred from immigration officials between January 1 and October 31 this year.

Most of the above-mentioned foreigners try to enter through Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

"The number of foreign citizens arriving has surged after the outbreak, so the Philippine authorities have stepped up monitoring of the ports. As the world gradually opens up, the number of travelers is increasing, and the number of illegal immigrants attempting to enter is also increasing," said Norman Tansingco, director of the Bureau of Immigration (BI)."
