Israeli man arrested as he applies for extended visa at Philippine immigration office

The Philippine Immigration Bureau on Thursday arrested an Israeli man at its headquarters office who had come to try to extend a tourist visa because he had a pending case in the Philippines.

It is reported that the Pasay District Court issued an arrest warrant for Amir Tesler in September 2021. Tessler arrived in the Philippines again in August and in October hoped to extend his initial 59-day stay.

Philip Reyes, a staff member of the Immigration Bureau headquarters, found Tesler's poor record when processing the application for the extension of the travel visa, and further verification confirmed that the man faced a criminal case and an arrest warrant for violation of violence against women and children in the Philippines.

The Immigration Department then referred Tesler to the Philippine National Police to face the related criminal case in court.

USCIS emphasizes the strong collaborative relationship it maintains with multiple law enforcement agencies in the Philippines to apprehend individuals who may have pending legal matters in the Philippines.
