NAIA Terminal 3 to Add Immigration Counters

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) of the Philippines said Wednesday that eight additional immigration counters have been added to Terminal Three of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to help ease long queues of passengers following the airline terminal reassignment.

The Airport Sports Affairs Department stated that there are currently 44 entry and exit counters in Terminal 3, and 6 counters will be added in the entry and exit extension area during the year.

Earlier, the authorities announced that the immigration counter extension is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The extension will serve the disabled, the elderly, diplomats and overseas Filipino workers.

The additional counters are intended to address congestion as some airlines have moved to Terminal Three under the Manila International Airport Authority's Flight Schedule and Terminal Allocation Rationalization (STAR) program.

From April 16 to June 1, eight airlines, including China Southern Airlines, Jetstar Airlines, Scoot, Star Airlines, Jeju Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Thai Airways and Gulf Airlines, have transferred their operations to Terminal 3.

At the same time, the airport authorities have begun to reposition the X-ray machines, which now appear before the immigration counters.

Airport officials said: "The final security check can be done first, which can be used to check international and domestic passengers. We apply the same security standards for international and domestic passengers. This gives us more flexibility."
