On 22 December 2018, the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Botswana on the Reciprocal Exemption of Visas for Persons Holding Diplomatic, Service and Official Passports entered into force.

Chinese citizens holding valid diplomatic, official, and official passports can stay in Bo for no more than 30 days and can be exempted from visas; they plan to enter Bo for work, settlement and other activities that require the prior approval of the country's competent authorities, and they should obtain visas before entering the country. Botswana has announced the implementation of port visa on arrival from November 22, 2018.

According to preliminary information, Bo has implemented the policy at major ports of entry, mainly for temporary visitors and business personnel. Applicants must obtain an invitation from the blogger in advance and submit their itinerary in the blogger.

A visa on arrival generally allows the applicant to stay in the country for no more than 14 days. Visa on arrival does not mean visa-free.
