Under what circumstances can I go to Indonesia without a visa or a visa on arrival?

1. Visa-free

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Order No. 17 of 2016, a passport valid for more than 6 months can show a ticket to leave Indonesia and enter Indonesia without a visa. Citizens who enter Indonesia through visa-free entry can only come to Indonesia for the following purposes:

(I) Tourism

(II) Visiting relatives and friends

(iii) Social communication

(4) Art and cultural exchange

(V) Government official business

(6) Attendance at lectures or seminars

(vii) Participation in international exhibitions

(viii) Participation in meetings organized by companies headquartered in Indonesia or with branches in Indonesia

(9) Transfer to other countries

Visa-free entry can stay for 30 days and cannot be extended or converted into other types of visas after expiration.

II. Visa on Arrival

The Indonesian government has been providing landing visa services to Chinese citizens since August 2005. Currently, landing visa charges US $35, which is valid for 30 days and can be extended for another 30 days at the Immigration Bureau. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Decree No. 12 of 2010, citizens who enter Indonesia through landing visas can only come to Indonesia for the following purposes:

(I) Tourism

(ii) Social and cultural visits

(III) Business visit

(4) Government official business that will not interfere with security and can achieve mutual benefit and win-win results

The Chinese Embassy in Indonesia hereby reminds

(1) Chinese citizens are requested to choose suitable visas for entry in accordance with Indonesian immigration laws and regulations, and are not allowed to engage in work inconsistent with their visas after entry.

(2) According to the provisions of Indonesia's immigration law, Indonesian immigration officials have the right to request the production of air tickets, hotel orders and other supporting materials, and have the right to judge whether to agree to enter the country through visa-free or landing visa based on previous visa records and entry and exit records.

(3) According to the Indonesian Immigration Law, visa-free or visa-on-arrival cannot be used for business or work. If you engage in work that does not match the visa, you will be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to 0.5 billion rupiah (about 250000 yuan).

(4) Please check whether the Indonesian entry stamp has been stamped on the passport page before leaving the immigration officer's counter.

(5) According to the reminder of the Indonesian Immigration Department, foreigners must carry their passports when going out in Indonesia, which is as important as carrying their driver's license when driving. If your passport is extended or lost at the Immigration Bureau, please also bring relevant supporting documents for inspection.
