On May 1, several flights were canceled today due to a power outage at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Eric Apolonio, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), said the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) reported that the power surge occurred at 1:05 a.m.
Ninoa Aquino International Airport said in a statement that the power outage occurred in Terminal 3 and that flight delays were expected as there was only backup power to power its critical facilities.
"The backup power supply is now powering key facilities, enabling the airline and immigration computer systems to be partially operational and able to process inbound and outbound passengers."
Nino' Aquino International Airport said in a post on Facebook that 40 domestic Cebu Pacific flights were canceled due to power outages.
Ninoy Aquino International Airport said engineering teams and technicians from the Manila International Airport Authority were investigating the cause of the power failure.
The management of Manila International Airport apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers by the power outage.
