According to Philippine media reports, on February 17, Philippine Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said that the Ministry of Tourism (DOT) is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice (DOJ) and the Immigration Bureau and will soon begin issuing electronic visas (e-visa).
Frasco recognizes the significant contribution of China and India as major sources of the Philippine tourism market.
Frasco: "Recognizing the potential of China and India to help revitalize our tourism industry again, our President (Ferdinand Marcos Jr.) has instructed our government to provide e-visas to our tourists. We are working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Justice to ensure that we can provide this service to our tourists as soon as possible."
She reiterated the government's commitment to support institutions, organizations and private entities engaged in tourism in order to achieve the government's goal of transforming the Philippines into an Asian tourism power.
