How can I make an appointment for customs clearance when Hong Kong returns to the mainland?

From January 8, 2023, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Port will resume normal exchanges between Mainland and Hong Kong personnel in stages. The arrangements apply to visitors to Hong Kong from Hong Kong residents and non-Mainland residents who use the following ports to leave Hong Kong. No appointment is required for mainland residents to leave Hong Kong and return to the Mainland from the relevant port.

Ports requiring reservation:

Lok Ma Chau Spur Line (Futian), Shenzhen Bay, Man Kam To, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (only for minibus drivers and passengers, Kimba passengers do not need to make an appointment) Cross-border bus passengers using the above ports must make an appointment through the system.

The system is open to accept appointments around the clock for Hong Kong residents and non-mainland residents to apply for an appointment from Hong Kong to the Mainland. The reservation number arrangement will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If the applicant has an appointment on the same day or not expired in the system, no further appointment will be allowed.

Notice for appointment:

1. Any Hong Kong residents and visitors who have reached the age of 18 can use this system to make an appointment from the designated port of Hong Kong to the Mainland. Persons under the age of 18 must apply for an appointment by their parents or guardians.

2. In addition to making an appointment, people leaving Hong Kong must obtain a valid 2019 coronavirus disease nucleic acid test negative result within 48 hours before customs clearance.

3. No appointment is required for mainland residents to return to Hong Kong. If you are a non-mainland resident visitor and will re-enter Hong Kong after entering the mainland, please keep the entry label issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and display it to the relevant mainland authorities when you leave the mainland. Otherwise, you will need to submit your application for entry into Hong Kong at the Mainland Exit Reservation System.

1. Valid travel documents.

Mainland residents are required to return to the Mainland from Hong Kong within the specified time with the validity period of the Hong Kong and Macau Travel Permit and the Hong Kong Entry Endorsement; Hong Kong residents are required to present the Hong Kong and Macau Resident Travel Permit (commonly known as the "Home Return Permit") and Hong Kong ID card customs clearance.

The relevant arrangements are similar to those of the Mainland to Hong Kong. Hong Kong residents need to log on to the "GovHK" website (www.gov.hk) to enter the system to make an appointment. The system will be launched at 6: 00 p.m. on January 5 and can make reservations for up to 3 peers. The opening appointment period for the first phase is from January 8 to March 4, and the quota will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no quota limit for mainlanders in Hong Kong to return to the Mainland.

The Hong Kong government has set up community testing centers and community testing stations, which mainly provide self-funded testing services for general community or private purposes, such as travel or work certificates. 4. Entry Quarantine

If the health declaration is normal and there is no abnormality in the routine quarantine at the customs port, it can be released into the society. Persons with abnormal health declaration or symptoms such as fever shall be tested by the customs for antigen. If the results are positive, if they are asymptomatic infections or mild cases without serious underlying diseases, they can take home, home isolation or self-care. In other cases, it is recommended to go to a medical institution for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. If the result is negative, the customs shall implement routine quarantine in accordance with the the People's Republic of China Frontier Health and Quarantine Law and other laws and regulations.
