Unlike other national hero anniversaries, Bonifacio in the Philippines is based on the day Bonifacio was born (November 30, 1183) and has a history of 158 years.

This national hero recognized by the people is known as a military strategist, politician, and initiator of the Philippine independence movement. He is not only known as the father of the Philippine revolution, but also the first Philippine president recognized by the people.

Bonifacio was born in the slum of Tondo in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Although he has not received formal education, Bonifacio loves reading very much, and through his own efforts, he taught himself English and Spanish. Gradually became a staunch anti-Spanish colonial revolutionary.

In 1892, Bonifacio founded a revolutionary organization called Catipunan (Katipnan), which was based on the Filipino people (workers and peasants) and aimed to launch an armed uprising to overthrow Spanish colonial rule.

On August 26, 1896, because the plan was leaked by the traitors, Bonifacio launched an armed uprising in advance, but was eventually defeated by the Spanish army.
