Philippine Enterprises Fair Performance Brilliant Sales Quintupled from First Exhibit

Despite the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020E, Philippine sales at China's largest import fair have been growing over the past four years.

According to data from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Philippines' sales at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) this year hit a record high since the country participated in the Expo in 2018.

Sales of Philippine booths at the Expo this year reached US $0.655 billion, up from US $0.597 billion in 2021, US $0.256 billion in 2019 and US $0.128 billion in 2018.

Mario Tani, head of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Shanghai, said: "In the past five or six years, the number of our exports to China has increased significantly, with sales five times as much as the Philippines participated in the 2018 CIIE for the first time. About 97% of the total CIIE transactions came from on-site sales and bulk purchase contracts, while the remaining 3% came from online business matching activities."

"FOOD Philippines" is still a Philippine brand at the CIIE, demonstrating Philippine food with great potential in the Chinese market.

Jose Ignacio, Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai, said: "What remains unchanged is the central message of FOOD Philippines Pavilion-'healthy and fresh', because only Philippine food can be provided, and without exception, loyal new buyers and importers can strongly prove this."

At this year's CIIE, the Philippines Pavilion brought together 62 food and food-related export companies, and more Filipino companies participated in the exhibition.
