The Basic Concept of Philippine Work Visa:

1. The Philippine work visa we often say actually refers to a 9G work visa, which is the visa for us to work legally in the Philippines;

2. Permit and Visa, VISA can be used as a certificate for our entry and exit, but Permit is not. Permit is only a certificate for our work in the Philippines and cannot be used as an entry and exit certificate;

3. General work visas can be divided into: AEP (long-term), PWP (temporary visa used during the excessive period before AEP) and SWP (short-term work permit);

Basic concepts of work permits in the Philippines

1. WP and PWP are both issued by the Immigration Bureau. The purpose and nature of their use are different, but they are both permits approved by the Immigration Bureau to work in the Philippines. Moreover, SWP and PWP are short-term work permits. If we want to work in the Philippines for a long time, we need to transfer SWP and PWP to AEP (long-term work permit).

2. AEP is issued by the Labor Bureau and is authorized to work in the Philippines on behalf of the Philippine Labor Bureau.

3. The certificate is called ACR-I Card, which is our identity certificate in the Philippines. ACR-I Card will indicate your identity in the Philippines, such as investment immigration, retired immigration or what is now called a work visa.

4. To sum up, what we generally call work visas includes: ACR-I Card and work permit.

Basically, when you come to the Philippines to work, you first use a travel visa to enter the country. After you enter the country, the company will apply for a work permit with a passport. After you get a work permit, you can apply for a work visa only if you are in the Philippines. It is possible to apply for a work visa, and the time for applying for a work visa is usually 3 months, sometimes 1.5 years to 8 months.

Philippines Application Process for Work Visa:

Entry: Apply for a work permit (PWP or SWP) to apply for AEP; long-term workers, apply for a work visa after obtaining AEP and get I-CARD

Finally, let's briefly introduce the differences between visas and permits:

PWP: It cannot be extended. It was used when we applied for a 9G work visa;

SWP: It can be extended once, usually for 3 months, up to 6 months.
