According to Philippine media, on November 2, Philippine authorities are tracking the whereabouts of six Chinese citizens kidnapped in Metro Manila this week.

On November 2, the head of the Philippine police's anti-kidnapping Kosme Abreenika (Cosme Abrenica) said that he was investigating the kidnapping of nine people on Monday.

It is reported that six of the kidnapped people are Chinese citizens who are still missing, and the other three are Filipinos who were released the day after being kidnapped.

"We don't know if this is kidnapping for ransom, what is the motive for the kidnapping, we haven't determined yet," Abreenika said."

Philippine officials have not released the identities of the victims. The kidnappers forced their way into the home of the Chinese victim in the early hours of Monday, said Philippe Aguilar, police chief of Laguna Karavan, who found the Filipino victim.

The Chinese Embassy in Manila said it had taken note of Reuters' request for comment. While police in the Philippines said the motive for this week's kidnapping was unclear, China has told the Philippines in the past that Chinese citizens were lured to work for online game companies and then cheated, extorted and subjected to "modern slavery".
