How to Apply for a US Interview-Free Visa

To travel to the United States, you need to obtain a visa through an interview. If you have previously held a valid U.S. visa or an applicant whose visa has expired for less than 12 months, or if your age meets the conditions, you can also apply for an interview-free visa. What conditions do you need to meet?

1. conditions based on age:

Applicants under the age of 14 and over the age of 80 (inclusive) who have not been denied a U.S. visa application in the last time can apply for a visa through the interview-free service.

Applicants must be Chinese citizens or residents.

The applicant must be in China.

2. conditions based on previously obtained U.S. visas and past travel records:

If you renew your previous U.S. visa and it is still valid or has lapsed for less than 12 months (this is extended to 48 months until further notice), you may be eligible for interview-free transfer.

You have previously obtained a U.S. visa and can provide the original copy of that visa. If your previous visa was affixed to a diplomatic passport, official passport or official passport, but you cannot submit the original passport and visa, in this case you can attach a copy of the passport and visa. Please note that this policy only applies to Chinese citizens who reapply for a U.S. visa using a private passport and whose last U.S. visa was affixed to a business passport issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Foreign Affairs Office. If you still use your business passport to apply for a visa this time, please contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the corresponding foreign affairs office to submit it for processing.

You must have been 14 years of age or older when you obtained your visa, and you must have been fingerprinted.

You must be a citizen or resident of China.

You must be in China.

You must be applying for the same type of visa. For example, you have previously obtained a B visa and want to apply for a B visa again.

Unless your current visa is based on your spouse's or parent's visa, in most cases, your current visa must have the maximum validity period specified in the U.S. Department of State's Reciprocity Policy, which will vary depending on the applicant's nationality and visa category. For example, F1 student visa applicants of Chinese nationality must hold a visa valid for five years, but F2 visa applicants of Chinese nationality can submit renewal applications with less than the maximum validity.

If you have two visas in your passport, you can apply for interview exemption under either (the first or recently expired visa) as long as the visa is still valid or has expired for less than 12 months (this is extended to 48 months until further notice).

To meet the conditions for renewal without interview on behalf of the transfer:

F-1 visa applicants must continue to study at the U.S. school or institution they have enrolled in.

J-1 visa applicants must continue to participate in the same exchange program.

H-1B visa applicants must be employed by the same employer specified in the previous visa.

Application for the following visa types cannot use the interview-free transfer service:

I (Journalist and Media Visa)

H-2A (seasonal agricultural worker)

H-2B (technical and non-technical workers)

H-3 (Trainees) Visa

L (Internal Company Transfer)

P-3 (Entertainment/Performance Visa)

These are the conditions that need to be met for exemption from interview. It should be noted that if a passport containing a US visa has been lost or stolen, the exemption service cannot be used regardless of whether the visa is still valid or not.
