According to Philippine media, on June 26, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian said that 75000 Chinese tourists visited the Philippines in the first five months of 2023, and the Philippine tourism department aims to reach 2 million tourists by the end of this year.

Ambassador Huang posted on Facebook, "China's international tourism industry is returning strongly in Southeast Asia!"

Because the Thai government recently announced that it will receive 1 million Chinese tourists from January to May 2023.

Ambassador Huang said: "Since the reopening, Southeast Asia has been the preferred tourist destination for the Chinese people and has brought many immediate benefits to tourism and people-to-people exchanges."

"In the first five months, the Philippines received 75000 Chinese tourists, rejuvenating many of the country's world-class beaches and scenic spots."

The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) recently announced that it aims to launch an e-visa (e-visa) by the end of the year to attract 2 million Chinese tourists.

Ambassador Huang said President Marcos and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed at a meeting earlier this year to "comprehensively deepen exchanges between the two peoples".

Ambassador Huang wrote: "I hope that the cultural exchanges between China and the Philippines will achieve the goals set by the leaders as soon as possible, and even reach a higher level."
