The Sri Lankan government announced that starting from August 1, tourists from 48 countries including China and Thailand will be exempted from entry visa fees, and the policy will be valid for 6 months. This means that Chinese tourists applying for short-term travel, short-term business activities, transit and other types of electronic travel permits (ETA) to Sri Lanka do not need to pay Sri Lanka visa fees.

Applications for short-term travel, short-term business activities, and transit ETA are free of charge, but the relevant policies for applying for other visas remain unchanged. Those who work, study, stay and other visit purposes need to go to the Sri Lankan embassy or consulate in China in advance to apply for an entry visa.

If you need to enter Sri Lanka for short-term tourism, short-term business activities or transit, you need to apply for ETA on the website in advance, or apply at the ETA counters at Bandaranaike International Airport and Hambantota International Airport in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, but there is a risk of rejection.

When applying for an ETA visa, the applicant should accurately choose his or her travel purpose, and shall not engage in activities that are inconsistent with the selected travel purpose after entering the country.

However, it is not easy to apply for ETA visa. Many people will hand it over to the agent. If it is done by the agent, they need to pay part of the service fee, which is about 300 yuan.
