Alarm bells ringing to prevent lawbreakers from committing telecom fraud in the name of the embassy

Date: 2023-05-25 PageView: 2200

In recent years, from time to time, lawbreakers have committed telecommunications fraud in the name of the embassy in the Philippines, and the embassy has repeatedly issued announcements on this issue to remind compatriots in the Philippines to take precautions. Recently, our museum has once again received relevant reports that criminals impersonate embassy staff to defraud the party's name, birthday, documents and other personal or family information and induce transfer and remittance. The scope of fraud includes the cancellation of passports for the party's same name as domestic criminals, the verification of identity for the case, and the cancellation of visas.

警钟长鸣,严防不法分子以使馆名义实施电信诈骗

The embassy hereby solemnly reminds everyone once again: our embassy will not notify the parties involved in the case by telephone, will not ask anyone for personal bank card or account information, and will not request transfer and remittance by telephone.

No matter how criminals renovate their fraud methods, please keep in mind that: for phone calls with unknown sources, you must maintain a high degree of vigilance and be careful in screening; Don't believe the unverified information involved in the case, and be careful to verify it; Don't provide important personal information on the phone, let alone transfer money easily.

If you receive a suspected fraud call, it is recommended to hang up directly. If you are indeed handling relevant business at the embassy or cannot identify whether it is a fraudulent call, please check with the embassy in the Philippines or the global consular protection and service emergency hotline of the Ministry of foreign affairs in time. If you are cheated, you should report to the Philippine police in time. If the money is transferred through a domestic bank, it can also be reported to the public security organ of the place where the domestic household registration is located.
