How do I handle ECC when I leave the country after staying in the Philippines for more than half a year?

ecc (Emigration Clearance Certificate) means immigration clearance certificate in Chinese. ECC can be said to be a certificate that many friends who return home need. This certificate is issued to expatriates who are about to leave the country to prove that they have no bad record in the Philippines or have responsibilities to other government agencies.

According to the relevant regulations of the Philippine Immigration Bureau, in addition to short-term entry passengers, foreigners who have stayed in the Philippines for more than 6 months are required to submit ECC documents to the Immigration Bureau before leaving the country by plane. If the ECC documents are not submitted in time, they will not be released according to the immigration procedures.

ECC is mainly divided into the following two types:

01, ECC-A

Issued to those who hold a temporary visitor visa, stay in the Philippines for more than six months (short-term inbound tourists are not counted) and meet the following conditions:

Foreigners with a temporary visitor visa (commonly known as a tourist visa) staying in the Philippines for six months or more;

Aliens with expired or downgraded immigrant or nonimmigrant visas;

A foreign national with a valid immigrant or non-immigrant visa who plans to leave the Philippines permanently;

People born in the Philippines and holding foreign passports (including children), but are leaving the Philippines for the first time. Only a ECC-B is required for future departures;

Temporary visitor visa holders who have been issued an expulsion order (OTL);

Foreign seafarers who have stayed in the Philippines for more than 30 days have obtained a departure order from the Immigration Department.

02, ECC-B

It is issued to foreigners who hold immigrant and non-immigrant visas, have a valid alien registration certificate identity card (I-card), and need to leave the country temporarily.

Attention

ECC-B can be handled directly at the airport, while ECC-A can only be handled at the immigration office and need to be done in advance.

Generally speaking, it usually takes about 3 working days to process the ECC-A. Therefore, if you want to leave the Philippines, you need to do the relevant processing at least 72 hours in advance.
