St. Kitts Launches Alternative Investment Immigration Option (AOI)-National PPP and Private Enterprises

The Alternative Investment Option Alternative Investment Option (AIO) is the third form of investment under the Investment Citizen Program. The AIO will provide the government with the means to achieve its capital investment objectives without having to endure the disadvantages associated with using the limited resources available or assuming additional debt.

Potential projects should be identified and listed by the government, or can be proposed by private individuals entitled to financing, who can propose to the government potential projects that are not on the government infrastructure list. However, after completing and running for a reasonable period of time (allowing a reasonable return on investment), the assets must be transferred to the government in a state of maintenance consistent with prudent ownership.

For projects on the government infrastructure list, advertisements can be placed, a letter of intent for the government's initial review can be sought, and a "short list" of individual projects can be created ". The Government will strive to ensure that, to the extent feasible, shortlisted companies will not only maximize local employment, but will also embark on projects including technology transfer and capacity-building.

There will be two types of alternative investments:

Public Goods Project Developer (PGPD), at the end of the agreement the state owns the assets. These projects are fully funded by the PGPD and are locked in the "upfront". The minimum investment unit is $175000.00. All other charges will apply under the Real Estate Option.

Private business developers (PEDs) whose built or funded assets are privately owned. In this plan, the minimum investment unit is 200000.00 US dollars, and the standard real estate government fee is applicable.
