Driving school fees are no longer capricious! Philippines LTO issues new regulations

The LTO said it would begin capping driving school fees nationwide on April 15. This move will reduce overcharging by 50%. And by reducing the high price of driving school tuition, more people can afford to learn to drive.

According to the regulations, the high cost of driving theory courses in driving schools is P 1,000, while the maximum cost of actual driving courses is P 2,500 (motorcycles) and P 4,000 (light vehicles). Before this restriction, the charging standard of driving schools was determined by the market, and some driving schools even charged as much as 20,000 pesos.

If a driving school refuses to comply with this fee cap, it will be subject to the following penalties:

First infraction-fine of P 50,000 and six months of suspension

Second violation-fine of P 100,000 and one year's suspension of business

Third violation-certification revoked

If it is found that some driving schools do not comply with this regulation, then those who learn to drive can also report to LTO. However, taking into account inflation, the LTO said the driving school can file a complaint with the LTO. The LTO also stated that the maximum fee will not be fixed and will be adjusted based on the results of the review.
