Philippine NAIA Terminal Shuffle in April China Southern Airlines to Transfer to Terminal 3

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) recently announced that it will adjust the service aviation division of some terminals of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from April 15, 2023, and officially change Terminal 2 to a national airport in July.

According to the terminal allocation rationalization plan, all international flights will be deployed in terminals 1 and 3, so that passengers can enjoy more food and retail outlets and have time to visit duty-free shops.

Cesar Chiong, general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority, said: "With this initiative, we expect that the passenger volume of Terminal 2 will increase significantly from 7.5 million passengers per year to 10 million passengers, which is 20% to 25% higher than the current passenger volume. In addition, the removal of the immigration counter and other international flight facilities in Terminal 2 will provide much-needed space for expansion."

From April 16, China Southern Airlines, Xingyu Airlines, Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Asia and Singapore Scoot will be transferred from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3.

In addition, Philippine Airlines flights to and from Singapore, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi and Phnom Penh will be transferred to Terminal 1 on April 16.

From June 1, Ethiopian Airlines and Jeju Airlines will be transferred to Terminal 3, and after June 16, all international flights of Philippine Airlines will be transferred to Terminal 1.

From July 1, all domestic flights of Philippine Air Asia will be transferred to Terminal 2.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific's domestic and international flights will continue to remain at Terminals 3 and 4.

Prior to this, Philippine Airlines flights to and from the United States, the Middle East, Canada and Bali have been transferred to Terminal 1.

Cesar Chiong said: "This plan is a well-studied effort. We met with the affected airlines and stakeholders to ensure they came up with a plan to prepare as part of these changes. We advised them to contact the affected passengers so they could inform them of the new terminal assignment."

He added: "While we are planning for a seamless transition, there may be some minor inconveniences during this period, so we call for understanding as this is part of our strategic plan to improve the overall experience for our customers."
