Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs Accepts Electronic Identity Card as Passport Application Document

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that it would accept e-PhilID, or printed digital versions of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), as documents for valid passport applications issued by the government.

The office said: "In order to facilitate its use as a valid identity document accepted for passport applications, it is recommended that the details in the ePhilID printed by the public must be clear and easy to read and contain the same details as the document requirements provided during the passport application."

The Philippine Bureau of Statistics said earlier that printed ePhilID would be distributed at PhilSys registries across the country. The agency also guaranteed that everyone registered in the PhilSys would still receive an actual ID card, even if they claimed to have printed ePhilID.

Registered individuals can access the https://appt.philsys.gov.ph's online reservation system to check whether they have obtained their PhilSys number and make an appointment for the ePhilID to receive the print.

The ePhilID contains the person's full name, gender, date of birth, citizenship, address, blood type, printed date, QR code and photo.
