Philippines Kalibo Airport will add new flights to and from Chinese Taipei this month!

According to Philippine media reports, on December 12, the Philippine Immigration Bureau (BI) stated that the Kalibo and Katiklan International Airport in Aklan Province will add new flights to and from Taipei this month.

Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a statement that he has instructed the Port Operations Department (POD) to ensure that sufficient personnel are deployed to the airport to cope with the increase in passenger numbers caused by new flights.

He noted that Royal Airlines' maiden flight from Katikland to Taipei is scheduled to depart Tuesday.

"It also marks the first time BI will operate at the new Kadickland airport," added Tansinko."

On the other hand, Tansinko added that Tigerair will launch the Kalibo-Taipei-Kalibo flight on 1229. Initially, the company planned to schedule four flights a week to Taipei.

Meanwhile, the acting head of the POD, Carlos Capulong, revealed that passenger arrivals at different airports have now averaged between 25000 and 27000 people a day over the past few days.

He said the figure was much lower than the daily average of 50000 visitors when the country reopened its borders to foreign tourists in March 2021.

Meanwhile, with further easing of travel restrictions, Tansinko expects international passenger traffic at all international ports to continue to increase next year.
