4 Filipinos arrested for attempting to leave the country as an airport employee

On November 11, local time, Philippine airport police said that authorities arrested four passengers posing as airport staff at Nino Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and they also tried to board flights to the Middle East without exit procedures.

The authorities did not reveal the identities of the four suspects, but they have been referred to the National Bureau of Investigation for an in-depth investigation to determine how the group was operating and the mastermind behind it.

But airport police said the suspects, who identified themselves as airport franchisees or fast food restaurant employees, were found carrying forged airport IDs or passes inside the departure terminal at Nino Aquino International Airport.

However, after further examination, the suspect tried to take a different flight to the Middle East before being arrested.

The police said that the authorities have a suspect, an immigration officer/employee at the airport, but in order to avoid startling and influence the investigation, the authorities will not disclose more information for the time being.

It is reported that the immigration officer sent photos and videos through mobile phones to guide the suspect how to evade routine exit checks and tell him where to board the plane.

The management of Manila International Airport has asked security personnel to strictly check the documents of all internal personnel to avoid and stop the same modus operandi.
