Can Chinese driver's license be transferred to Philippine driver's license

Date: 2022-11-11 PageView: 3646

Since China has not yet joined the "United Nations Road Traffic Convention", there is no official agency in mainland China to issue an "international driver's license". This is also the root cause of the current controversy over China's "international driver's license. Since my country is not a party to the convention, mainland China cannot issue or renew an international driver's license. However, the owner of an international driver's license can change the Chinese driver's license after passing the driving theory knowledge test and use it in mainland China.

中国驾照是否可以转菲律宾驾照

Except for Hong Kong and Macau, because Hong Kong and Macau belong to the Special Administrative Region, the "United Nations Road Traffic Convention" still applies. Therefore, for example, the use of "International Driver's License" and "Hong Kong Driver's License" can be used as a party (region) to the United Nations Road Traffic Convention.

It is not feasible for mainland Chinese citizens to apply for an international driver's license, but there are still ways for mainland Chinese citizens to travel abroad by car. Notarization of driver's license is the most convenient method at present. The so-called notarization of driver's license is to notarize the existing driver's license at the notary office where the account is located. The notary office issues a language translation certificate with a function equivalent to an international driver's license.

The procedures for notarizing a driver's license are relatively simple. Drivers need to bring their existing driver's license (valid), ID card and household registration book, and provide the official language recognized by the country. The cost of notarizing a driver's license depends on the translation language. The translation fee and notarization fee for notarization of English driver's license are 240 yuan, while the translation fee for minor languages is relatively higher. Different languages have different prices, generally around 320 yuan."

If you are only traveling, for old drivers who already hold a valid foreign driving license (a valid driving license issued by the country of nationality), they can continue to use it in the Philippines within 90 days after arrival.

So if you are traveling to the Philippines, holding a Chinese driver's license and using it within 90 days of arrival, there is no problem.

If you plan to continue driving in the future, you need to convert your foreign driver's license to a Philippine driver's license within 90 days of your last arrival in the Philippines.

If the foreign driver's license has not expired, you can successfully exchange for a Philippine driver's license without taking an examination. If the foreign driver's license has expired, you need to take the written test and road test in person to get the Philippine driver's license.

The place to apply for a license change is located at the Land Transport Office (LTO) and main branches on East Main Road in Quezon City. For non-professional drivers (non-coach drivers, drivers, etc.), they need to apply for a non-professional driving license.

The information to be submitted is as follows:

Fill in the application form for driver's license, the original and photocopy of the foreign driver's license (if the driver's license is not in English, it must be notarized in English first, or certified in English through the consulate or embassy of the country where it is located)

The original and photocopy of the valid passport, and the visa paper or passport stamp page showing the latest arrival in the Philippines.

Original medical certificate issued by LTO accredited physician

Original negative drug test results issued by drug testing centers or government hospitals approved by the Ministry of Health

After the information is complete, you need to apply according to the following procedures:

1. Go to the customer service counter to obtain your demand list, collect the queuing number and wait for the call;

2. Submit all necessary documents at the appraiser's counter, and check their integrity and authenticity by the staff;

3. In the photo shooting and signature waiting area, wait for the photo taking and reserve the signature according to the calling order;

4. Pay the relevant fees at the cashier's counter and obtain an official receipt.

Expenses include:

Driver's license fee 585 pesos

Driver's license application fee 100 pesos

Driver's license conversion fee 100 pesos

Computer fees 67.63 pesos

5, at the pick-up counter, show the official receipt and get a driver's license.

Of course, if you work and live in the Philippines for a long time, it is also a good way to get a Philippine driver's license.
