Nearly 300 flights at Manila's NAIA Airport affected by typhoon were stranded by affected 40,000 passengers.

Many of the affected passengers said they were willing to wait for the next available flight, but some said they were concerned that arriving at the destination airport at night could be stranded again.

Due to heavy rainfall and strong winds brought by the severe tropical storm "Ba Ying", especially the crosswind, the Manila International Airport Authority had to close the airport runway from 4 pm to 10 pm on Saturday.

The agency said airlines have offered rebooking and hotel accommodation for those arriving at airports early, while others are being encouraged to manage their own bookings online.
