According to Philippine media reports, on October 26, passengers going to the Philippines will no longer be required to fill in an electronic e-arrival card before boarding. The office of the press secretary said in a statement that channels will be set up at ports of entry across the country for those who meet government requirements.
The Philippine Department of Health (DOH) and the Quarantine Bureau (BOQ) announced earlier that from November 1, inbound travelers will request the presentation of electronic entry cards 72 hours before leaving their country of origin.
But at a press conference on October 25, Tourism Minister Christina Frasco said that filling in an electronic entry card would not be a prerequisite for boarding. This means that passengers can fill out the card at their own convenience before departure or upon arrival.
Special channels will also be set up in the country's portals for those who do not have the opportunity to fill in electronic entry cards, Frasco added.
Frasco said the Marcos government's removal of travel restrictions would help revive the country's tourism industry, one of the industries most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the past 2 years.
