Sudden! A Korean Airlines plane dashed off the runway when it landed in the Philippines, and many flights were canceled!

According to Philippine media reports, on October 24, a Korean Air plane taking off from Incheon, South Korea, dashed off the runway when it landed at McTan Cebu International Airport. 162 passengers and 11 crew members on board were reported to be safe.

"No one was injured and all passengers were safely evacuated from the scene of the accident," Korean Air said in an email.

Flight KE 631 is expected to arrive in Cebu at 10 pm on October 23 and attempt to land twice in bad weather. On the third attempt, the A330-300 plane arrived at 11:07 pm and dashed off the airport runway.

"We are currently in the process of determining the cause of the accident," the airline said."

Passengers were escorted to three local hotels and alternative flights were being arranged, the airline added. At the same time, the runway has been closed due to aircraft obstruction.

To date, the Manila International Airport Authority has recorded 16 cancellations of flights between Nino Aquino International Airport and Cebu.

Both Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Airlines announced that affected passengers could rebook or refund their tickets or convert their tickets to travel vouchers or travel funds.

AirAsia said that passengers can also change their flights within 30 days of the original flight schedule, or keep the money of the flight reservation in the credit account.
