In President Marcos's statement, he said that November 2 would be a special non-working day. "By allocating more time to the traditional activities of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, we will enhance the relationship between family members and promote the development of local tourism."

The statement also stated that the holiday dates for the Muslim religious holidays of Eid al-Fitr and Gurban will be based on "Islamic calendar or Islamic astronomical calculations."

The Presidential Office document stated that the Philippine Muslim National Committee will inform the president of the specific date of the Muslim holiday.
