New Philippine Entry Rules! You can enter the Philippines without vaccination! Limited to 1000 persons/day

It is reported that from March 1, the Philippines will receive 1000 unvaccinated foreign passengers every day at McTan Cebu International Airport.

Quoting Julius Neri, general manager of the McTan Cebu International Airport Authority, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the MCIAA decided to limit daily passengers and avoid being overwhelmed by isolated hotels.

The governor said only a handful of unvaccinated travelers have arrived at Cebu Airport recently.

Garcia issued an executive order on February 9 allowing non-vaccinated foreigners to enter the country if they tested negative for reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) 48 hours before arrival.

Foreigners will also be wiped on arrival and quarantined inside the facility until a second RT-PCR test comes back negative on the fifth day.

Garcia also encouraged unvaccinated foreign visitors to receive a single dose of Janssen vaccine while in Cebu.

Garcia issued an executive order to revive the province's troubled tourism industry.

Local government departments in Cebu province are highly dependent on tourism, she said.

"Although local tourists may help a little, they are not the backbone of the tourism industry, but immigrants from South Korea, Japan, China and the United States," Garcia said.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Cebu was the second most preferred destination for foreign tourists in the Philippines after Boracay, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

DOT Minister Bernadette Romulo-Puyat that 1.4 million foreign tourists visited Cebu in 2019.
