How to apply for a German family reunion visa

The general family visit and relative visa stay within 90 days. If the applicant wants to apply for a stay of more than 90 days, he can apply for a family reunion visa. This type of German visa generally refers to a long-term stay visa (Class D) or a residence permit. The visa holder can stay for more than 90 consecutive days, and the visa also allows transit in other Schengen countries.

It should be noted that any stay of more than 90 days is within the jurisdiction of the long-term visa and is not part of the Schengen Agreement. The long-term visa application can only apply for a visa from the Chinese embassy or consulate. The following are the required materials:

1. Passport, passport must be valid for at least 3 months

2. Two visa application forms in German or English

3. 3 identical photos of recent biometrics on white background

4. Medical insurance certificate effective from the date of entry for a period of not less than 90 days; this certificate is not required if you apply for a meeting with a citizen or a person who has the right to freedom of movement in the EU.

5. Marriage certificate, or double-certified marriage certificate with German translation, or double-certified (or Hague-certified) marriage certificate of other countries with German translation

6.2 copies of passport of spouse (all passport pages with registration must be copied) and 2 copies of residence permit (for non-German spouse)

7. The spouse's household registration certificate in Germany (no more than 6 months from the date of issuance of the household registration certificate at the time of application). Those who have not registered their household registration in Deschamps must submit: rental contract, real estate certificate or other such information including the future residence address in Germany. Identify, by address, the Aliens Authority in charge of your visa application, which will also be responsible for issuing a residence permit upon entry

8. A1 Proof of German language proficiency. According to the regulations, if you apply for reunion with holders of EU blue cards, ICT cards or researchers, you do not need to provide proof. Whether it is possible for other special reasons not to provide proof of proficiency in A1 German can only be decided after the application is made in coordination with the Aliens Administration

9. The visa fee is 75 euros, which can be paid in RMB (the spouse of a German citizen is exempt from the visa fee)

Warm Tip: If there are no other instructions, each material must be submitted in 3 copies (original and 2 copies). That is, the original will be returned to the applicant after reading it, and the visa office will leave 2 sets of the same application materials.
