Philippine Immigration Bureau issued a reminder! There is a second inspection at the airport, please arrive 3 hours in advance!

According to Philippine media, on July 17, the Philippine Immigration Bureau (BI) reminded departing passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before the flight to avoid delays.

The Philippine Immigration Commissioner Tancinco (Tansingco) issued a reminder in response to a complaint from a passenger who claimed that he had been unable to catch a flight due to a secondary check.

"It was verified that he checked in only 1 hour and 27 minutes before boarding," Tancinko said."

He added: "The passenger arrived only 12 minutes before boarding for a preliminary check."

The official said that because Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 3 are undergoing secondary inspections and passengers are too crowded, it is necessary to conduct inspections as soon as possible.

Secondary screening is a standard security protocol for passengers who may show warning signs as part of the agency's responsibilities under the Department of Justice's Inter-Agency Committee Against Human Trafficking (Iacat).

Tancinko said: "Our officers are trained to conduct inspections efficiently, respecting passengers' time, and ensuring maximum compliance with safety protocols."

Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 reported a significant increase in the daily average number of international passengers since June 16, 2023, according to the latest figures from the Immigration Department. The terminal recorded 28956 passengers a day, a sharp increase of 48.1 percent from the average of 19553 passengers before the transfer.

There was also a surge in international passenger traffic at Terminal 3 of Manila International Airport. Since June 16, 2023, the average daily number of passengers has increased from 33682 to 28168, an increase of 19.58.
