Philippine Airlines announces resumption of flights to China to increase flight frequency

Philippine Airlines announced that it will gradually increase its service to and from China, and will start reopening more routes this month.

Philippine Airlines will resume its Beijing route on February 21, Jinjiang (Quanzhou) route on March 19 and Macao route on March 26. On February 14, Philippine Airlines has resumed direct flights to Shanghai.

Stanley Ng, president of Philippine Airlines, said in a statement: "We are working hard to restore the flight network of Philippine Airlines in Greater China. This investment will strengthen our ties with the economic center of the mainland and help promote bilateral relations between the Philippine and Chinese people."

He added that PNA hopes the relaunch of services in Beijing and Shanghai will help fuel a rebound in tourism and business travel. "our goal is to again operate a network of multiple routes between mainland china and the philippines," he said."

Philippine Airlines currently only has flights to Xiamen and Guangzhou.

Starting from February 25, the frequency of Manila-Xiamen flights will be increased from one flight per week to three flights per week.

From February 16, Manila-Guangzhou flights will be increased to two flights per week and will be operated daily from March 26.

Manila-Jinjiang (Quanzhou) flights are scheduled for March 19, 22 and 24, and March 26.

In addition, the two weekly flights of the Manila-Macau route are scheduled to start on March 26. On the same day, the three flights per week on the Manila-Shanghai route will be increased to daily flights.

Airlines have been waiting to resume services to China due to border restrictions related to the new crown outbreak. Before the outbreak, Philippine Airlines had 34 flights a week to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Jinjiang and Xiamen.

The airline said it was working closely with health and aviation authorities in China and the Philippines to ensure the highest level of health and safety protection for passengers.
