Australia: Priority Processing of Visa Applications for Skilled Immigrants in Health and Education

Recently, according to Ministerial Directive No. 100, the Australian Ministry of the Interior has begun to give priority to processing skilled immigrant visa applications in the fields of health and education.

Currently, Australia's top priority for skilled immigrants includes school teachers, health welfare support personnel, nursery managers, medical scientists, consultants, psychologists, social workers and medical technicians.

The directive specifies in detail the order in which visas are processed by the Ministry of the Interior. The first rank is the application for a medical or teaching occupation, the second rank is the application for an employer-guaranteed visa recognized as a guarantor, the third rank is the application for a designated area visa, and the fourth rank is the application for a permanent residence or temporary visa except a 188 visa (business innovation and investment visa) within the immigration system, and finally all other visa applications. In each order, special priority will be given to applicants whose passports meet the requirements and whose people are abroad.
