US $70 for Philippine entry QR code? Congressman: Don't fall into a scam!

On November 21, local time, Philippine Senator Pia Cayetano (Pia Cayetano) once again warned the public to identify fake websites, which claimed to provide electronic entry QR codes but required a payment of US $70.

During the Senate meeting, Cayetano shared his son's experience when he returned to the Philippines, saying that when searching for keywords such as One Health Pass, the first website that appeared was a fake and unofficial website.

Although the name of the site has not yet been mentioned, she said she would reveal full details in her privileged speech on Tuesday, but she hoped to ring the alarm as soon as possible to avoid anyone being fooled.

She said: "This is worrying because overseas Filipino workers or foreign tourists may be cheated out of US $70 because they do not understand the QR code registration process. This may become the reason why foreign tourists are unwilling to come to the Philippines, which can be regarded as economic damage."

Senate Speaker Juan Miguel Zubiri (Juan Miguel Zubiri) said the move was no different from a roadblock robbery.

The Philippine authorities have issued several statements before, calling on tourists to register only in the https://onehealthpass.com.ph, and have repeatedly stressed that it is free to receive the entry QR code.

In the Senate discussions, senators turned to tortured, inconvenient and unrealistic demands on travelers.

Cayetano said that even though there is no quarantine policy now, the country is still implementing multi-layered quarantine measures. Zubili said that passengers should no longer apply for and show OHP or entry QR code, and the immigration seal on the passport is sufficient.

Senate Minority Leader Peng Minzhi (Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III) said that the travel tax should be stopped, saying that this "absurd" rule should only be implemented in the Philippines.
