The latest full opening time of the Philippines is April 1. Visa-free entry for passport holders

According to Philippine media, the Philippine government will reopen its doors to all foreign tourists from April 1, and the Philippine embassy and consulate will resume issuing visas.

The Ministry of Tourism (DOT) said in a statement that the new policy is consistent with the elimination of entry quotas for unvaccinated passengers and the approval of laboratory-based negative antigen test results taken within 24 hours of departure as an alternative to arrival.

"From April 1, there will be no restriction on the number of international passengers arriving at all ports of entry in the country," he said."

Currently, the initial requirement for arrivals is a negative RT-PCR 48 hours before departure.

The inter-agency task force passed Resolution 164, which also allows passport holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region to enter the country visa-free for a period not exceeding 14 days.

Tourism Minister Bernadette Romulo Puyat said: "This latest development is open to all fully vaccinated tourists from all countries, which means that the country's tourism industry is recovering."

"We DOT thank our colleagues at IATF for approving these measures, which will help sustain the recovery of the industry in the coming months. We have high hopes that all of this will lead to an increase in the number of international travelers visiting the country during the outbreak," she added.

DOT also announced mutual recognition of Covid-19 vaccination certificates from Croatia, Cyprus and Nepal, which are among the 157 visa-free countries.

Earlier, the Philippines reopened to foreign leisure travelers from visa-free countries on February 10.

According to DOT data as of March 9, the number of arrivals has reached 76736. In this number, 43249 are foreign tourists, while 33487 are Balikbayans.
