Recently, Cebu Pacific Airlines official website (PSE:CEB) announced that it has resumed flights to Bangkok on Wednesday and to Fukuoka and Jakarta on a weekly basis to catch up with the Philippines' relaxation of entry quarantine restrictions and the reopening of flights for tourists this month.
Cebu Airlines will restart daily operations in Ho Chi Minh, Taipei and Dubai in March
IATF recently revised the entry and quarantine agreement for international entry into the Philippines, temporarily suspending national classification restrictions (listing countries in green, yellow and red categories). According to these guidelines, fully vaccinated passengers from visa-free countries can visit the Philippines for business or leisure purposes, and mandatory facility isolation is no longer required upon arrival, as long as they provide negative RT-PCR test results 48 hours before arrival.
"This development will benefit the Philippine tourism industry as we welcome vaccinated travelers from around the world to explore our beautiful shores. We commend the Department of Tourism for actively promoting the reopening of our country to welcome foreign tourists, and we will do everything we can to support this initiative," said Xander Lao, chief commercial officer for Cebu Pacific.
Cebu Pacific also plans to resume flights from Manila to other international routes next month, especially Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) on Tuesday, March 1; and Taipei on Saturday, March 2.
The UAE authorities also lifted capacity restrictions on the Dubai-Manila route, enabling CEB to resume its daily flight frequency from Tuesday, March 1.
Philippine AirAsia to resume multiple international routes
With double-digit increases in bookings for summer destinations, Philippine AirAsia plans to introduce more domestic flights in April and restart travel to neighboring Asian countries.
The airline said it would refly flights to Bali, Indonesia, and Bangkok, Thailand, in March. It will also open routes to Dumagut and Rojas and reopen flights to Incheon, South Korea, in April.
At the same time, AirAsia's bookings on Boracay have increased by 24%, making it the preferred destination along with Cebu, Tabilaran (Bonrau), Kalibo and Tuluwan.
"The tourism industry will rebound this year and we are going all out to maintain the momentum. As more and more countries ease border agreements, we are opening local and international routes to meet the growing demand for travel," AirAsia Philippines spokesman Steve Dalisan said in a statement.
"As we work with national and local agencies to resume tourism after the pandemic, AirAsia Philippines will continue to advocate for inclusive and safe travel," he added."
Civil Aviation Administration of China official announcement: resumption of international flights from 2023
Recently, in addition to the decision of some Central Asian countries to relax entry restrictions, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has also received good news. The gradual resumption of international flights from 2023 means that Chinese will have more flights to choose from when they return home, and ticket prices are expected to return to normal levels.
Recently, the Civil Aviation Administration of China announced the "14th Five-Year" Civil Aviation Development Plan. Affected by the current new crown epidemic, this plan is completed in two main phases.
The first phase is from 2020 to 2022, which is called the "recovery period and accumulation period". The Civil Aviation Administration said it would further consolidate and expand the results of epidemic prevention and control and civil aviation development this year. At the same time, it is necessary to accelerate the implementation of major projects, step up major reforms, stabilize support policies, accumulate development momentum, and promote the recovery of industry growth.
The second stage is 2023-2025, which is called the "growth period and release period". The main focus is on expanding the domestic market, restoring the international market, and improving the level of opening up. The Civil Aviation Administration will also focus on accelerating the improvement of capacity scale and quality efficiency, and promote the high-quality development of civil aviation in an all-round way.
This blockbuster news reveals that starting from 2023, China is expected to gradually relax international travel restrictions, increase international flights, and gradually return to normal entry and exit.
The Civil Aviation Administration pointed out in the "Plan" that it is estimated that by 2025, the number of civil transportation airports in China will reach more than 270, the total transportation turnover will reach 175 billion ton kilometers, and the passenger transportation volume will reach 0.93 billion.
At the same time, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the air transport network will be committed to building a sound domestic air transport network and international air transport channels, enhancing international air cargo capacity and strengthening international aviation hubs in the five major goals of leading scale, wide coverage, smooth access, convenience and efficiency, and strong support.
Judging from these data, it will be much more convenient for Chinese to return home from the accelerated recovery of international flights after 2023.
In addition, Zhang Wenhong, director of the National Center for Infectious Diseases and director of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, said, "In principle, after the next year, whether it is the level of herd immunity, or the immune barrier established through vaccines, or the new crown treatment drugs. The listing means that this may be the last cold winter."
