Philippine Immigration Service Reminds Foreigners Not to Overstay, Arrest a Frenchman

Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) Director Norman Tansingco has again warned foreigners not to overstay their stay in the Philippines.

"We will not tolerate foreigners who disregard the country's immigration laws or relevant residence laws and regulations. We will continue to be vigilant and proactive to ensure that immigration regulations are followed," he said in a statement."

On September 5, the Philippine Immigration Bureau arrested a Frenchman who overstayed his stay in Santiago City, Isabeira Province (Isabela).

According to the report, Debah, a 51-year-old Yassine Nouraddine, was unable to provide any valid residence documents and could only present a passport that had expired.

Before the arrest, the Philippine Immigration Bureau coordinated with local community officials to monitor the man's residence for two days to confirm his identity.

The French man has now been transferred to the Immigration Department's detention center in the city of Tatayi, awaiting deportation.
