On February 14, the Philippine Immigration Bureau and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning!

On February 14, an official from the Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DFA) warned people looking for work in Southeast Asian countries not to enter these countries through tourist visas.

"Tourists don't go. Recruiters will cheat you that the travel visa can be transferred to the work visa. This is not the case in Southeast Asia."

It is reported that this happened after eight Filipinos became victims of human trafficking in Myanmar.

The Filipinos returned to the Philippines on the morning of February 13. The Myanmar authorities and the Philippine Embassy in Yangon rescued the victims. Four of them were forced to work as online fraudsters on the encrypted currency farm.

According to Foreign Ministry officials, human trafficking occurred not only in Myanmar, but also in Laos and Cambodia.

According to the report, these Filipinos were recruited to Thailand as tourists and then illegally taken to Myanmar to engage in online fraud. Victims say they are mistreated and threatened if they refuse to obey orders.

On February 14, the Philippine Immigration Bureau (BI) once again warned swindlers who cheated victims online.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco reiterated earlier warnings against cliques targeting women seeking "online love.

Tansingco said they had previously received reports of women being "pursued" online by group members who would pretend to be foreigners interested in "meeting Philippine partners.

Then the victim will receive small gifts, international travel and marriage promises.

In many cases, fake foreigners will claim to fly to the Philippines to meet or marry victims. However, after the crooks assumed to fly to the Philippines, he would claim that he was seized by the Immigration Bureau or other government agencies, and the crooks would trick their victims into depositing large sums of money in exchange for the freedom of foreigners.

In previous cases, crooks would pose as an immigration officer or "senior officer".

In March last year, the Immigration Service received a request from a female victim who claimed that his partner was seized by officials at Davao International Airport. The victim said a fake immigration officer demanded payment for her partner's release.

The scammer claimed her partner was detained for carrying large sums of cash in her handbag.

Tansingco said: "We are concerned that many people will continue to suffer, especially during Valentine's Day."

He warned: "Be vigilant and alert to people you know online. Always double-check and verify with the authorities to see if the stories they tell you are true."
