菲律宾政府已向灾区提供帐篷 至少10人受伤录得400次余震

On October 26, local time, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.) said that he had been monitoring the situation in some northern Luzon provinces after the magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred in Abra province late Tuesday night.

In an interview, he said that the affected residents were in urgent need of tents, food and drinking water, and they were afraid to return to their homes for fear of aftershocks.

It is reported that electricity supply has been restored in parts of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Abra provinces.

"The epicenter is further south and is almost close to the Iloco area, unlike what happened in Abra province before. Today (Wednesday), the government has announced a suspension of classes throughout the day until we check that all buildings are safe. Another challenge is to ensure that electricity will be restored, at least in Iloco North and Iloco South."

He added: "However, people are still afraid to go home because there have been hundreds of aftershocks after the earthquake and their houses are not so strong. So, to be on the safe side, we have urgently called tents."

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said a magnitude -6.4 earthquake struck the town of Lagayan in Abra province at 10:59 pm on Tuesday.

At least 10 people were injured after the quake, according to the provincial disaster reduction management office.
